Steve Mosely of EZ Themes has asked to post the following:

$750 October / November Author Competition
In an effort to build our XP content we are running a competition until the end of November 2002 for authors contributing XP visual styles (WindowBlinds), boot screens and login screens files to our site.

The rules are real simple: The author with the most downloaded XP files will get $250, three 2nd place authors will get $100 and I'll have 4 runner-up prizes of $50

The quicker you join and start contributing the more chance you get to win.

Hrm... I'm confused. Link isn't to EZ Themes, and I had to dig through the site that was linked to even find EZ Themes, which had nothing about a contest. The contest seems to be held by the host, filesubmit_dot_com. There doesn't seem to be a way to join EZThemes. FileSubmit's terms of use says:

"By submitting Content to FileSubmit.com you grant FileSubmit.com the world-wide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, modify, adapt and publish the Content solely for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting the Content on FileSubmit.com's Internet properties and the properties of our Affiliates."

There seems to be a homogeneous database of content throughout the sites I clicked on. So is it like one big site with numerous front-ends? The sites I smapled are full of fan-art and images that don't belong to the authors. Am I to understand that whatever is uploaded will be distributed through all the sites involved in FileSubmit? I'm not sure there is enough information involved in this contest for anyone to safely decide whether or not to submit anything.

Steve is haveing a hard time posting comments, but he emailed me the following:

EZthemes is a site that has been around for about 3 or 4 years now. Filesubmit.com is the new 'Face' of EZthemes - Think of it as the 'front-end' or 'author interface'.

As for the terms, what is says in laymen's terms is that we can distribute the file ONLY via the Internet (So we cannot put it on a CD and sell it) - You are correct when you say it will be distributed to many sites - That is the whole concept of EZthemes/Filesubmit - A central place to manage your files that allows a wide distribution of these files - If you request a change or deletion it is replicated across the affiliate sites automatically - Without you having to track which sites you submitted you creations too (As a side note, all of these sites were created independently of EZthemes, they just use us for content - They are all owned and operated by independent webmasters - What we control is the content itself - The display and storage of the files, the previews, etc.).

I hope this clears things up, if not, feel free to email me at steve@ezthemes.com and I will be happy to explain further.

Regards.

Okie doke. No offense intended, I promise. It was just a very confusing circumstance from my perspective. I'm not completely confortable with it myself, but it seems like a reasonably legitimate way of doing things. Best of luck.
