Alienware uses Stardock’s Theme Manager OEM to offer the Ultimate Redskins Fan XPerience
Published on August 9, 2005 By koop In Suites

In yet another demonstration of how Stardock’s Theme Manager OEM can be used by PC manufacturers to increase their market share, Alienware Computer has released the "Redskins Ultimate Fan XPerience" desktop theme, available exclusively with a new Alienware PC.

Stardock’s Theme Manager OEM changes the Windows desktop through the use of Suites. A suite is a single file that incorporates several of Stardock’s most powerful programs. It includes a WindowBlinds skin that transforms the Windows Start Menu, taskbar, title bars, buttons and virtually every aspect of the Windows user interface. Icon Packager is Stardock’s popular program for changing virtually all the Windows icons. Theme Manager itself sets the system wallpaper and Media Player skin.

Theme Manager was originally developed as part of Stardock’s Object Desktop suite of software. Since first being released for external license in 2002, Theme Manager OEM has been used as a marketing tool by some of the largest and best-known companies around the world, including Nintendo, Microsoft, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Touchstone Pictures. System builders such as Systemax and Alienware use Theme Manager to differentiate their products. Computer graphics companies such as ATI and NVIDIA offer themes created for them by Stardock for download from their websites. Even companies that you might not associate with desktop technology, such as Goodyear Tire and Rubber and Zippo Manufacturing Company, have seen the benefits of desktop themes.

“Desktop Themes are a highly effective means for companies to get their message across to users, to increase their awareness in the marketplace or to reward their fans” said Larry Kuperman, Sales Manager at Stardock. “There are tens of millions of people who customize their PC’s in one way or another, whether through wallpaper or screensavers or themes. Theme Manager OEM provides a way for system builders to give their products an entirely new look and to appeal to new audiences.”

Would be nice if Rainlendar would be included in Theme Manager. I know it's not a Stardock software but Beatnik / Winamp / Sysmetrix are not, so ?

How could they not do the team that won the superbowl 3 times in the last 4 years?

It stings when the people that do the actual work don't get credited doesn't it?

That was a deliberatly provocative comment, and one which will very likely push this thread off course and into the usual flame war.
Jeff runs a business, not a charity. I know from experience he pays his employee's very well for their work. He's out to provide an end product, not to make people famous.
This public thing about people ragging on him saying he never gives credit is absoloutely pathetic.
I can't recall ever seeing anyone lambast Bill Gates for not telling the world the name of every person who codes Windows.
When I go to Burger King, I don't really care who turned on the fryer to cook my fries. That person gets paid for it, and I'm sure that's all they're after.

I'm going to lock this thread because we all know how it's likely to end up if it remains open, and will probably neccesitate being locked in the end anyway.

The blog appears to be about Stardock's Theme Manager, not the theme. I don't see any reason to take offense.

All due respect Wizop Hippy, was that really necessary?
I wasn't trying to start a flame war and I resent that I am accused of such. I only said what some people were hesitant to because of exactly what happened.

I apologize to TSF for my comment. I have nothing against them whatsoever. I respect their work as much as anyone elses. I just saw that TSF was stung a little bit because of the thread and I got a little chuckle out of it as I am sure others did as well.

BTW, you might want to clean up this mess.. https://www.joeuser.com/blogindex.asp?D=K&p=3&s=20 *****extreme adult content*****

My slant on this is that it'd be 'cleaner' to have just removed #11 and left everything as it was...locking didn't work....and it's just become a wee bit 'untidy' because of that.

I've hidden it so it can be decided how to deal....my vote would be to delete #11...as being 'unhelpful' at best.....and all subsequent as being highlighting of what was insinuated in #11.

As for the link Nighttrain posted...seems JU is getting a bit naughty...
